Weddings To Go Key West

It has been brought to my attention by recent clients that the budget, husband & wife 'all-in-one' company, Weddings To Go Key West, have been telling prospective Key West brides that they refuse to officiate weddings we are photographing. They have gone so far as to say  that they would do it if the client (who has already paid for our service) would use their photographer (husband) instead. Given that the differences between our photographic approach and body of work are in no way similar, this in itself is really of very little importance.

However, what is important, is that of the numerous wedding related businesses in Key West, Wed To Go KW are the only company that consistently go out of their way to attack others they perceive as threats to their livelihood or ego. After nearly 20 years of community service with the Florida Keys, I have never heard such negative, attacking behavior. The very spirit of the Keys is built on a rock solid foundation of exactly the opposite. Positivity and cooperation. Especially, when it comes to something as personal as a wedding. Given that Wed To Go KW have been seen publicly humiliating brides on their wedding day by members of the community, have been exposed via online wedding forums to be downright mean, rude & nasty to brides, guests and vendors, it is a wonder they are still in business at all.

If you are planning to have a wedding in the Keys, do yourself a huge favor - shop around, talk to vendors in all areas and ask for referrals. Most everyone has worked together at one time or another and you will typically find a high level of mutual respect. If, after reviewing any company's website, checking references and speaking on the phone (even briefly) you are willing to hire them for one of the most important events in your life, by all means do it. It is obviously a matter of personal choice and comfort.

The Keys have a unique charm and alluring romantic quality that make it special, make a little extra effort to insure your wedding day is not left to chance.

Having lived in NYC, Los Angeles, Amsterdam, Miami Beach, Key West, founder John Hunter's mixed background in photography and music has truly influenced the way he views the world through a camera lens. A self taught photographer, John mixes photojournalistic technique with today's exciting technology to produce professional and fun wedding imagery. WIth his wife Hannah, a graduate of the School of Visual Arts in New York, they attract clients from around the world that are looking for more than just a wedding photographer.

"A couple of things that we believe makes our service unique on a personal level are that we make a point of working within our clients comfort zone and create a natural, flowing photographic environment. We don't push to have things our way and stay flexible throughout the day as wedding moments are often very unpredictable."

"Another perk for our clients is that they actually receive ALL of the photos taken throughout the day (obvious bad ones excluded), print rights and a healthy collection of color, black & white and antiqued photos presented on the web. We don't believe in holding their memories hostage."

Based in Key West and Central Florida, JHunter Photography continues to evolve with the ever growing destination wedding industry. Available to shoot anywhere in the world, visit www.JHunterPhotography.com to see something different.

Summer break

Hannah and I are back home in Key West. We took time off to introduce our families to baby Josef and are now catching up with all things important. Give us a call if you want to talk or send an email for service information. You will get a response within two days. We will be away one more time July 24-28 (ironically to attend a wedding) then home for the rest of the year. Thanks for your patience.

Choosing a vendor

Key West is known for it's quirky, laid back, positive attitude toward life and that certainly holds true in the wedding business. As you are planning you will notice many of the same names popping up on lists and through referrals. That's because the wedding professionals on the island work together often and provide consistent results. Whether you are planning a large event or intimate affair on the beach, be sure to call around and find the people that match your specific needs and taste (there are plenty). If by chance you run into someone that says they refuse to work with another person or company on the island, know that this is an extreme rarity and ask why. This is not an accurate reflection of the wedding business or even Key West for that matter. On an island that is only 1 1/2 by 4 miles small, most everyone coexists peacefully and that really comes across when it matters most - on your wedding day. Long distance planning can be tough so look for the names you see the most. These are the people that you can count on. For additional help you can also join the Yahoo Key West destination wedding forum or The Knot to learn from brides that have already had the experience.
